Djembe Fixing

Djembe Fixing:
Please note that following, should incase you Djembe head or the shell/frame got broken.

      • Please lose or pull the lazing rope up and down to free the broken skin from the head.
      • Remove the skin from the rig
      • Put your newly dry goat skin into water for 20-40munite to soften skin.
      • Take the skins out from the water after 20-40 minute and hang it for the water to drain out.
      • Place your skin on the floor or a table in such that the inner side will face down and outer side of where hide is to face up.
      • Place the ring on top on skins, fold the skin around and across the ring to fit and place it on top of the Djembe head where remove it was remove.
      • Start pulling the lasing rope to fit the Djembe head
      • After put the Djembe under the sun for 5-10days to be paper dry, during this process the body shell has to be protected from the sun from crakes if shell is a painted shell. But if it natural color, polished with shea butter or cocoa nut oil, it¡¯s safe under sun with protection.
      • The most importantly: After the skin has been paper dry the Djembe has to be kept in a cool dry airy environment (room) for 3-5day for the tension that took place during the drying period to settle down.
      • On the 6days to 7days you can start to pull or tune to get your sound you wanted and the sound will never drop or change you will always enjoy your good quality sound you always wanted.

Protection of Djembe:

      • Do not put any object on top of your Djembe
      • Always protect your Djembe with Djembe head cover to prevent moisture or liquid material dropping on the head.
      • Do not put your Djembe under the sun when it has been tuned.
      • Do play your Djembe with a stick or any foreign object.
      • Djembe should only be played with your palm/hand
      • Djembe are better protected when travel with it in Djembe bag.
      • Djembe that are produce only with natural colour of the wood should be polish with shea butter every 3-6month to protect the shell from any foreign insert.
      • Djembe head can also be change 3month -1year depending on how weak the head has become during playing. ?
